The emo song: THE HUNGARIAN SUICIDE SONG

Urban legend claims after listening to the song it gives you motivation for suicide.
The song is composed by Hungarian pianist and composer Rezső Seress and published in 1933. Lyrics written by  László Jávor. The song was written in Hungarian in 1935.

The song was connected to many suicides in Hungary. Up to eighteen suicide linked in some way to the song. Reports of people killed themselves after listening to the song, or who were said to have been found dead with references to the song's lyrics in their suicide notes. Some found to have sheet of music in their hands or plying the song on gramophones during the time of their suicide.

The song was banned after it was linked in many suicides. After that, the song gained some interest by the American musicians and singers, they jumped at the chance to record instrumental and translate versions of the song, by the end of 1936 several recordings were available to American audiences. One of this is probably the most famous version, the Billi Holiday's version. The BBC banned Billie Holiday's version of the song from airing, as being detrimental to wartime morale, although they allowed performances of instrumental versions. The BBC's ban was only lifted last 2002.

So what could be the motivation of their suicide? Listening to the instrumental version of the song, the song have hits of many minor notes, creating a deep feeling. In comparison to a major notes, the notes is somewhat warm or pleasant to hear, and the minor notes creates a deep feeling of frustrations or despairs. Well that would be my interpretations in music, and it varies to other individuals.
The lyrics may have also gave the motives  for suicide since there are reported events that claimed to have the music sheet in their hands during the time of their suicide. For those who are curious whats in that song i searched the web for versions and translations of The Gloomy Sunday.

Meghalt a szeretet!

Vége a világnak, vége a reménynek
Városok pusztulnak, srapnelek zenélnek
Emberek vérétől piros a tarka rét
Halottak fekszenek az úton szerteszét
Még egyszer elmondom csendben az imámat:
Uram, az emberek gyarlók és hibáznak...

Vége a világnak!

Rezső Seress lyrics - Literal English Translation

It is autumn and the leaves are falling
All love has died on earth
The wind is weeping with sorrowful tears
My heart will never hope for a new spring again
My tears and my sorrows are all in vain
People are heartless, greedy and wicked...

Love has died!

The world has come to its end, hope has ceased to have a meaning
Cities are being wiped out, shrapnel is making music
Meadows are coloured red with human blood
There are dead people on the streets everywhere
I will say another quiet prayer:
People are sinners, Lord, they make mistakes...

The world has ended!

László Jávor lyrics -Hungarian

Szomorú vasárnap száz fehér virággal
Vártalak kedvesem templomi imával
Álmokat kergető vasárnap délelőtt
Bánatom hintaja nélküled visszajött
Azóta szomorú mindig a vasárnap
Könny csak az italom kenyerem a bánat...

Szomorú vasárnap

Utolsó vasárnap kedvesem gyere el
Pap is lesz, koporsó, ravatal, gyászlepel
Akkor is virág vár, virág és - koporsó
Virágos fák alatt utam az utolsó
Nyitva lesz szemem hogy még egyszer lássalak
Ne félj a szememtől holtan is áldalak...

Utolsó vasárnap

László Jávor lyrics - Literal English Transltion

Gloomy Sunday with a hundred white flowers
I was waiting for you my dearest with a prayer
A Sunday morning, chasing after my dreams
The carriage of my sorrow returned to me without you
It is since then that my Sundays have been forever sad
Tears my only drink, the sorrow my bread...

Gloomy Sunday

This last Sunday, my darling please come to me
There'll be a priest, a coffin, a catafalque and a winding-sheet
There'll be flowers for you, flowers and a coffin
Under the blossoming trees it will be my last journey
My eyes will be open, so that I could see you for a last time
Don't be afraid of my eyes, I'm blessing you even in my death...

The last Sunday

Billie Holiday's version -

Sunday is gloomy,
My hours are slumberless
Dearest the shadows
I live with are numberless
Little white flowers
Will never awaken you
Not where the black coach of
Sorrow has taken you
Angels have no thought
Of ever returning you
Would they be angry
If I thought of joining you?

Gloomy Sunday

Gloomy is Sunday,
With shadows I spend it all
My heart and I
Have decided to end it all
Soon there'll be candles
And prayers that are said I know
Let them not weep
Let them know that I'm glad to go
Death is no dream
For in death I'm caressin' you
With the last breath of my soul
I'll be blessin' you

Gloomy Sunday

Dreaming, I was only dreaming
I wake and I find you asleep
In the deep of my heart, dear
Darling I hope
That my dream never haunted you
My heart is tellin' you
How much I wanted you
Gloomy Sunday

László Jávor wrote lyrics of the song for a former girlfriend, shortly after the release she committed suicide and left behind a note saying simply "Gloomy Sunday." 35 years after writing the song the pianist and composer Rezső Seress indeed to committed suicide. In January 1968 he jumped out of a window in Budapest, he did survived the fall, but later in the hospital he choked himself to death with a wire.

RARE SKULL: STARCHILD

Discovered in 1930's, in a mine of a small rural village 100 miles Southwest of Chihuahua, Mexico, buried a smaller human skeleton and is mysteriously deformed. In February of 1990, Lloyd Pye was first shown the Starchild skull by its owners. His initially reaction that it is a rare genetic deformity of some kind, however the skull's symmetry was astonishing which are too perfect to be a genetic anomaly.

The bones are perfectly formed, most which have human counter parts but shaped differently and is almost perfectly symmetrical. investigations found out that the skull is actually a child's skull. According to the dental examination it shows the lack of erupted adult teeth conclusive that the skull belongs to a four to five year old. Parts of the skull is missing from the upper bridge of the nose to the foramen magnum-a hole where the spinal cord enters the cranial cavity. The cranium and the eye sockets are intact. Its cranial cavities are excessively larger than the average adult skull, 200cc more larger. A larger cranium indicates a larger brain mass. In humans have 200cc larger capacity than their predecessor. Is this mean  a smarter species do exist?

In further investigation a CAT scan has shown that the sutures between the bones of the cranium had not yet been sealed themselves, which prohibits for further growth. Most congenital anomaly exhibit some degree of premature sealing of the sutures. This makes the skull is unlikely a result of an anomaly. There are no frontal sinuses and the posterior part of the skull is flattened.

Carbon dating placed the skull at 900 years of age. DNA study shows that the child was not only human and the child is a male, and indicate that the parents must have been human as well. The skull consist of calcium hydroxylapatite, which is the normal composition in a mammalian bone. Basing from its physical features of the skull, the eye sockets are shallow and round and the optic nerve channel is  at the base of the orbit, in the normal human skull the optic nerve channel is found in the rear.

Legends spreads throughout the Central and South America, that a "Star Beings" come down from the heavens and impregnate females in an isolated villages. Which to term the women give them birth to their "starchildren" and raise them to age six or so. When its ready the Star beings return to the village and collect their progeny. Its purpose is not clearly outlined in the legends. Many believe that improving their stagnate gene pool could be the reason.

Is it a birth defect or works of an extra terrestrial beings from the heavens? Is it a smarter human-alien hybrid that have larger brain mass than that of an average human? The best explanation is more likely the condition known as the "hydrocephalus". Normally the CSF(cerebro-spinal fluid) circulates in the cranium and the spinal cord, when an anomaly obstructs its path, the CSF won't be drained and it will accumulate inside the skull. More fluid inside the skull causes more pressure, in an unclosed fissures of a skull this will cause it to buldge outward.

Belize-GREAT BLUE HOLE

Part of the Lighthouse Reef system, it lies approximately 60 miles off the mainland out of Belize City. Its perfect circular holes approximately 0.4 kilometers across and 480 meters deep which brings the deep blue color. Its surrounding structures is made up of a perfect circular limestone, giving the site like a eye or pupil in the sea.

They have recorded chambers filled with stalactites and stalagmites which only form in dry caves. This is a prof that thousand of years ago (approx 65,000 years ago) the sea level of the Bahamas was up to 150 meters low than it is today, probably happened when the world was in the grip of a major ice age. When the sea levels rose up again due to the melting of the ice, it eroded the limestone of the island, making it collapsed inward thus creating the formation of Blue Holes.

Its rich aquatic life and vast corals to see, its a diver's paradise. Some divers and marine life researchers had reported some marine life which are new to science. Inside the hole there are several channels leading to more caves. And maybe some are waiting to be discovered.

Cotton Castle

Pamukkale "Cotton Castle"

Pammakale means Castle of Cotton. Greco Romans built a town above the site, recognizing its rare natural beauty. They called the town Heirapolis - means "Sacred City or "Holy City". Today the town is now in ruins.

This natural wonder and exotic site is located in the Denzil Province, South Western region of Turkey. This site is naturally beautiful by it terraces of carbonated minerals which formed due to the flowing water. Terraces where formed by earthquakes allowing the flow of hot springs with water rich in calcium carbonate to the surface. As the water evaporates the minerals condensed and formed layer-upon-layer creating a different levels of flat-form of neatly white calcium deposits. This happened for thousand of years like the stalactites and stalagmites in a cave where formed.

Some of the locals believed that the thermal water that comes through an underground source is said to be medicinal. Never the less this spectacular view and the hot springs of the Cotton Castle can make you relax. There are several thermal hotels located near the site, offering you thermal bath in warm water from the hot springs.

Its a natural beauty you didn't know it exist. Some of the irresponsible tourist and locals now abuse the site. This is uniquely splendid place. It took thousand of years to carve this natural wonder, appreciate it and be responsible enough to preserve it.

Most poisonous substance

Most poisonous substance known to man is the Botulinum Toxin. This is a protein produced by the bacteria Clostridinium Butilunum, the causative agent of Botulism. The bacteria was first discovered in improperly handeled meat, basing on the physical appearance of the bacteria that resembles like a sausage, as the Latin for sausage was botulus and this where it got its name.

Botulinum toxins act directly on the nervous system. Once introduced to the body rapid paralysis occurs. symptoms like slurred speech and blurring of vision. As it progress paralysis in extremities and the diaphragm may be noted, thus impairing the respiration and death follows.

The toxin produced by the bacteria is so deadly, an amount equal to a grain of salt is enough to kill an adult man, a teaspoon of the toxin is enough to kill a billion people, and they even suggest if the toxin is well dispersed a 4 kilograms of the toxin is enough to kill every person on the earth.

Today cosmetic industry use the botulinum in very low dose as medication to reduce wrinkles and directly injected at the skin to treat severe underarm sweating. Other medical uses include treatment for incontinence or urine leakage, chronic migraine, muscle stiffness, cervical distonia, eye muscle problems and more other medical conditions that have muscle problems.

This is a powerful substance, in the hand of the right person can very much helpful, but in the wrong hands this can be deadly. As this is easily contained and used for a biological weapon.

Dragon Millipede

Dragon Millipede (Desmoxytes purpurosea). This shocking pink millipede is a newly discovered species found in the areas of Mekong River, Southeast Asia. Despite its beauty, this brightly colored millipede serves as a warning from other predators. The millipede has glands that produce a substance that is highly poisonous. It produces cyanide, substance that can cause internal asphyxia.

This substance interferes with the enzymes responsible for controlling the oxidation process, preventing the absorption of oxygen in red blood cells. Ingestion or inhalation of the substance can cause immediate unconsciousness, convulsions, and death to the victim within a minute or longer. Depending on the amount, at near lethal dose is absorbed through the skin, inhaled, swallowed or introduced to a break in the skin, symptoms will be: rapid respiration, gasping for breath, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, headache, tachycardia, flushing, fainting, and sudden drop of blood pressure.

The Dragon millipede got its name not from the ability to breath fire, rather from its physical features and bright colors and the ability to produce a substance like cyanide. This animal is small it only reaches approximately 3 centimeters but you  might want to stay away from this animal, any mishandling might cause you to be lethally ill. In nature, displaying a bright colors serves as a warning to other predators, as a sign to stay away. In that case there is no predators try to make this animal as a meal. It is a part of their survival like others have its camouflage, trying to blend in at their surroundings, and this have a bad reputation killing its victim. There is no known natural predator of this species, unless that animal is immune to cyanide like substance. The species joins other twenty-three of other dragon millipedes of the genus Desmoxytes found in Southeast Asia, from Southeast China, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

FAITHFUL DOG HACHIKO

In year 1924, Professor Hidesaburo Ueno in the agriculture department at the university of Tokyo, took Hachiko,  golden brown Akita. During the professor's life Hachiko greeted him at the end of each day at the Shibuya Station. Everyday the dog waited for his owner at the exit of the station  after his owner's work. This routine continued until a tragedy happened. In May 1925 Professor Ueno did not return to the station where Hachiko is waiting. The professor died from cerebral hemorrhage, and never to come home to see his friend again. Everyday after the professor's death Hachiko still waits for the professor for nine years in the same station.

After the Professors death Hachico was given away, but the dog routinely escape from the new owner, to search for his friend, not knowing he already passed away few years ago. He shows up in the old home of the professor, and eventually realized that the professor no longer go home at that house. He went up looking at the train station where he is waiting for him many times. But each day many of commuters pass by the station none of them is the professor.

Hachiko attracted the attention of the commuters as well as the local residents on the area. Many of them are familiar with the dog and the professor. At first the initial reaction of the people working at the station is unnecessarily friendly. But when an article been published about Hachiko on October 4, 1932, people started to bring Hachiko some treats and food to nourish him during his wait. This routine continued for nine years, he waited patiently, hoping he will see his fried again.

In March 8, 1935 Hachiko was found dead on the street of Shibuya. The dog had a filarial infection and terminal cancer causing his death. They also found yakitori sticks in his stomach, but not conclusive to be the cause of his death.

Hachiko's legendary faithfulness to his owner became a national symbol of loyalty. People of Japan were impressed by Hachiko's memory to his master and a loyalty that even nine years of waiting the dog never gave up hoping.

In April 1934, a bronze statue in his likeness was erected at Shibuya Station, and Hachikō himself was present at its unveiling. The statue was recycled for the war effort during World War II. In 1948 The Society for Recreating the Hachikō Statue commissioned Takeshi Ando, son of the original artist, to make a second statue. When the new statue appeared, a dedication ceremony occurred. The new statue, which was erected in August 1948, still stands and is an extremely popular meeting spot. The station entrance near this statue is named "Hachikō-guchi", meaning "The Hachikō Entrance/Exit", and is one of Shibuya Station's five exits. (source)
